The Winner is...
MCBA (Michigan Competing Bands Association...these are the competitions between Michigan bands) currently utilizes MCBA constructed judging sheets and criteria. Seven adjudicators are utilized in the scoring system. You will see people walking on the field during the performance. Don't be alarmed! They are judges...you will notice them speaking into little recorders.
Music Field Judge – 12.5 points
Visual Field Judge – 12.5 points
Music Ensemble Judge – 15 points
Visual Ensemble Judge – 15 points
Music Effect 1 Judge – 15 points
Music Effect 2 Judge – 15 points
Visual Effect Judge – 15 points
For a total possible of 100 points
At each competition, in addition to the overall winner, there is a winner selected in each of three categories a.k.a. captions:
Music, Visual,& General Effect.
BOA (Bands of America...these are the Regional and Nationals competitions) utilizes a different scoring system. See their rule book below for details:
