Valhalla!
Our last day @ Camp Timbers welcomed us with sunshine, blue skies, and a beautiful rainbow! Must be a great omen of things to come! The Senior breakfast was great...thanks to the moms who organized it. During breakfast with the whole group, we heard speeches from all of the seniors, sharing stories of their marching band experiences and letting the underclassmen know what the marching band family has meant to them.
Heading to the field for a last day of practices and then heading home with some great memories, improved skills, new friends, and some tired bodies!
Thanks for a great week, Camp Timbers staff! A HUGE thank you to Deb Perry and Dawn Vernon for being our Camp Directors this year...your hard work showed and we appreciate you! And...a special thank you to our #1 Fan and WLC Principal, Chuck Morgan, for traveling to Camp Timbers to spend the day with us and watch our rehearsal. Go Vikings!
See everyone on Monday! :-)

Pancakes and sausage and ready to go! Kids headed off to the field for a morning practice.
I'm not naming any names, but...when your kid gets home ask them what happens when somebody loses something at camp and someone else finds it. Great morning entertainment!
Also, ask them about the Sponge Bob Award...we are on the look-out for clean cabins!
Lots of action going on in the sewing room...the flags are taking shape, and we can't wait to see them spinning on the field!
A little rain dampened the fields, but not our spirit! We practiced on all over camp @ various locations. Then, the sky cleared to a lovely sunset just in time for the talent show! From British Rock to crooning country singers, we had it all! A trumpet solo...played by one person and an encore performance of their smash-hit Flash mob performance by the Band Moms. The seniors put on a great dance and skit and passed out the traditional awards.
Following the talent show, it was time for the seniors vs. senior parents & staff water gun fight...emphasis on the word FIGHT! It was an epic battle with, of course, the parents & staff coming out as clear victors! (some will say that the writer holds a certain bias, being a band mom herself, but I shun all criticism of that nature) What a BLAST!!! Slept came late to many!

Day 3...sunny day!

08/15/2012

We had a great night! Before bed we played a rousing game of Pirate-opoly! The kids had a great time...great team-building activities!
Heading off to sectionals for the morning...they had a great ensemble practice last night...this show is going to be amazing!
Today was great...sunny, 75 degrees, blue sky...northern Michigan at its finest! After their afternoon practice, kids enjoyed some free time and were able to choose: swimming, kayaking, zip-lining, relaxing, showering, basketball or just chilling out with their friends.
Just enjoyed a delicious dinner of fried chicken & mashed potatoes! Kids are heading to practice field for a 6-9:00 practice and then a bon-fire with s'mores. We signed up for the talent show after dinner & everyone is busy working on their acts...can't wait to see what they come up with! Mr. Rogers reports that the kids are working hard and doing great!!

Here's a quick picture of the band practicing on the field...notice the nice, green grass! We will be trying to get some more pics posted as the week goes on!

Band Camp, Day 2

08/14/2012

Today the sun is shining and the sky is blue! We all practiced hard and are starting to see some great progress. We enjoyed our free time relaxing, @ the beach, playing b-ball, and showering. Nachos for dinner and then off to practice!

Band Camp 2012

08/13/2012

Our first day at CampTimbers! We all got settled into our cabins, had lunch, and headed to the field for our first practice. We got a little wet, but that won't stop the Viking Marching Band! The rain stopped just in time for a great bonfire, complete with awesome stories and s'mores!
All kiddies tucked into bed and slept like babies!
